The HPE JL251A is a high-density, high-speed 40 GbE QSFP+Bi-Directional Transceiver designed for modern enterprise and data center deployments. It uses dual LC multimode fiber links to support 40 Gb Ethernet over short distances — ideal for top-of-rack switches, campus backbone links, or modular blade interconnects. Supporting up to 100 meters over OM3 (and 150 m over OM4), this module provides efficient, flexible connectivity using existing multimode fiber infrastructure. It’s fully compatible with HPE FlexFabric and FlexNetwork platforms.

The JL251A, also known as HPE Networking X140 40G QSFP+ LC BiDi Transceiver , implements a single-fiber, bidirectional architecture with two wavelengths (850 nm and 900 nm) to transmit and receive over one duplex multimode fiber pair. Each fiber carries 20 Gbps, combining to 40 Gbps aggregate Ethernet capacity This compact, hot-swappable module includes Digital Diagnostics Monitoring (DDM) and is compliant with QSFP+ MSA and IEEE 802.3ba standards.
