Overview

The StarTech QSFP40GSR4ST is a Cisco-compatible fiber optic QSFP+ transceiver module engineered for high-performance 40 Gigabit Ethernet (40GbE) networking. This module is designed to be a direct replacement for the Cisco QSFP-40G-SR4-S or QSFP-40G-SR4, providing reliable 40Gbps connectivity over multimode fiber (MMF) infrastructure. It is an essential component for data center aggregation, high-speed backbone links, and enterprise-level switch-to-switch connections.

Operating at a wavelength of 850nm, this transceiver supports distances of up to 100 meters over OM3 multimode fiber and up to 150 meters over OM4 multimode fiber. It utilizes an MPO/MTP connector, which allows for high-density cabling by transmitting four independent 10Gbps channels simultaneously. The module is fully hot-swappable, allowing for installation or replacement without a network shutdown, ensuring maximum uptime for mission-critical hardware.

The QSFP40GSR4ST features Digital Diagnostic Monitoring (DDM/DOM) support, which provides real-time access to operating parameters such as transceiver temperature, laser bias current, and optical transmit/receive power. Built to meet or exceed OEM specifications and MSA (Multi-Source Agreement) standards, this transceiver ensures seamless integration and reliable performance within Cisco-based networking environments.
