The HPE 720187-B21 is a high-performance 40 Gb QSFP+ Transceiver Module designed specifically for the BladeSystem C-Class environment. Supporting 40GBASE-SR4 over multimode fiber (MMF), it delivers full-duplex connectivity across four parallel 10 Gb channels—perfect for demanding data center interconnects within server blades and Virtual Connect fabrics. Engineered for use with HPE ProLiant BladeSystem and Virtual Connect modules, the transceiver features hot-swappable installation and integrated Digital Diagnostics Monitoring (DDM/DOM) for real-time monitoring of optical performance. Despite a compact QSFP+ form factor, it provides powerful breed of performance and reliability.

Built around 40GBASE-SR4 standards, the 720187-B21 contains four independent full-duplex lanes—each supporting 10 Gb/s—over multimode fiber with an 850 nm wavelength. With this technology, the module achieves reliable connections up to approximately 100 m on OM3 fiber, and up to 150 m on OM4 fiber, making it ideal for intra-rack and inter-rack high-speed links. Being hot-swappable and compliant with QSFP+ MSA and IEEE 802.3ba, the module allows seamless integration and installation within active BladeSystem and Virtual Connect modules—minimizing disruptions during maintenance or expansion.  It also supports Digital Diagnostics Monitoring (DDM/DOM), facilitating real-time reporting of key optical parameters such as temperature, voltage, laser bias, and receive power—crucial for proactive maintenance.
