Overview

The Eaton ISOBAR12ULTRA is a rackmount surge suppression device designed to protect rack‑mounted IT, network, and AV equipment from transient voltage spikes and noise on the AC power line. It is deployed by infrastructure, network, and data center engineers where consolidated surge protection for multiple devices is required in a compact, standardized 19‑inch rack footprint.

This unit provides twelve NEMA 5‑15R outlets (two front, ten rear) fed from a NEMA 5‑15P input with a 15 ft (4.57 m) power cord. It offers a 3,840‑joule surge suppression rating with full normal‑mode and common‑mode protection and integrated EMI/RFI line filtering — helping prevent surges, spikes, and electrical noise from damaging connected equipment.

The ISOBAR12ULTRA fits in 1U (1 rack unit) of EIA‑310 standard rack space but can also be mounted on walls or under cabinets using included flanges, allowing flexible placement in IDF/MDF closets, branch racks, and edge racks.

Built‑in diagnostic LEDs provide local indication of line status, protection status, and faults, while a lighted power switch with locking cover prevents accidental shutdowns during rack service. Exclusive isolated filter banks separate groups of outlets to reduce interference between plugged‑in devices on the same strip.

In practical deployments, this surge protector is used downstream of facility feeds or UPS outputs to protect servers, switches, storage arrays, and AV gear in small to medium racks where multiple loads share a common AC distribution point but local transient protection is needed.

This device is not suitable where network‑managed PDUs or outlet‑level switching are required, nor for power distribution in non‑120 V regions without appropriate transformers or adapters. It also does not provide high‑level electrical isolation like UPS systems do.
