The StarTech SV831DUSBU is a 1U rackmount USB KVM switch designed to manage up to 8 VGA + USB systems from a single console (keyboard, mouse, monitor). It is deployed in server rooms, lab racks, and network closets where centralized control of multiple legacy or mixed systems is required.

It supports hotkey and front-panel switching along with an integrated On-Screen Display (OSD) for system selection, labeling, and access control. The unit can be cascaded to control up to 64 systems, making it suitable for scaled rack environments.

The switch uses VGA video (up to 1920×1440) and requires 2-in-1 USB + VGA KVM cables for host connections. It is optimized for legacy and mixed environments where VGA is still deployed. Not suitable for modern DisplayPort/HDMI workflows or high-resolution multi-monitor setups.
