Overview

The Eaton SRW6U is a 6U low‑profile wall‑mount rack enclosure engineered to secure and organize standard 19‑inch EIA rack equipment in areas where floor space is limited, such as network closets, branch offices, retail wiring rooms, or classroom AV closets. It is deployed by IT infrastructure teams and facilities engineers to house switches, patch panels, routers, small UPS units, and other rack devices off the floor while providing physical access control and airflow.

Constructed from steel with a durable powder‑coat finish, the SRW6U accommodates up to 6 rack units of equipment with adjustable mounting rails. The enclosure supports switch‑depth devices up to ≈16.5 in (419 mm) deep, suitable for most access switches, small routers, and distribution equipment used in edge or closet deployments.

Physically, the cabinet mounts vertically to a wall and extends a minimal distance from the wall plane, maximizing usable vertical space while minimizing footprint. Front, top, side, and bottom vented panels enable passive airflow across installed equipment, reducing the risk of heat build‑up in constrained spaces.

The enclosure integrates with standard rack hardware via square and 12‑24 threaded mounting holes and includes cage nuts and screws for immediate installation. A reversible, lockable front door and removable side panels enhance security and serviceability in shared environments.

In a practical deployment, SRW6U is used in branch or edge closets to mount a stack of network switches and a small UPS, offering physical protection and cabling management without occupying valuable floor rack space. It is not suitable for deeper server equipment, larger UPS systems, or heavy blade chassis due to its switch‑depth specification and static load limits.
