Overview

The Eaton SRCOOL24KE is a portable air‑conditioning unit engineered to provide dedicated cooling for server rooms, network closets, data centers, and other IT environments where standard facility HVAC is insufficient or absent. It is deployed by IT facility managers, data center engineers, and infrastructure teams to mitigate heat buildup around high‑density equipment, preventing thermal shutdowns, performance throttling, and shortened hardware lifespan due to excessive temperatures. The self‑contained design requires no external condenser, piping, or professional HVAC installation, enabling IT‑staff installation and placement flexibility.

This unit delivers approximately 24 000 BTU (≈7 kW) of ASHRAE cooling capacity with additional sensible cooling of around 16 000 BTU (≈4.7 kW), sufficient for medium server rooms or supplemental cooling tasks where heat loads exceed existing HVAC coverage. It uses eco‑friendly R32 refrigerant with lower global warming potential than legacy refrigerants, aligning with EPA, CEC, DoE, and NRCan efficiency and emissions standards.

Deployment is typically floor‑standing and close‑coupled to racks or hot spots; a flexible duct directs cool air where needed, minimizing recirculation. The unit can also cool a small room via its louvered vent. This integration supports centralized climate management alongside other infrastructure monitoring platforms.

A practical deployment example is supplementing central HVAC to handle elevated thermal loads in high‑density server racks during peak compute cycles or near equipment installations that generate localized hotspots. Another use case is providing temporary cooling during facility HVAC downtime without disrupting existing infrastructure.

This unit is not designed for permanent whole‑room or facility cooling in large open data halls with high total heat loads where dedicated ducted HVAC systems or CRAC/CRAH units are the appropriate choice. It also isn’t suitable where cooling redundancy is required without external backup AC systems.
