Overview

The Eaton PDUMVR20NETLX is a vertical, network‑managed switched power distribution unit (PDU) designed for rack power control and metering in IT and telecom environments. It is deployed by data center engineers and infrastructure operations teams where remote outlet control and power usage insight are required to manage connected rack equipment such as servers, storage systems, and network switches. This PDU supports branch‑circuit load monitoring and individual outlet switching to reduce physical visits for power cycling or troubleshooting.

This PDU distributes up to approximately 1.9 kW of power (16 A at 120 V) through 24 individually controlled NEMA 5‑15/20R outlets. It includes a 10 ft (3.05 m) power cord with a NEMA L5‑20P input plug and an optional NEMA 5‑20P adapter for standard 120 V circuits. Remote control and monitoring are provided by the Eaton LX Platform network interface supporting SNMP, HTML5 web UI, SSH, Telnet, and other protocols.

Mechanically, the PDUMVR20NETLX mounts in 0U vertical space on standard 19″ rack posts using toolless buttons or included brackets. A digital ammeter and outlet‑level current readouts enable on‑site load visibility, and cable retention brackets help secure patch and power cords in dense rack installations.

This PDU integrates into structured rack environments (MDF/IDF or data center cabinets) where power sequencing and remote management are needed for uptime and operational efficiency. It interfaces with IP networks for remote access and monitoring, enabling integration with SNMP‑based DCIM or NMS platforms. It is not recommended for high‑voltage (208/230 V) applications or where only basic strip‑style distribution without outlet switching is adequate.

A typical deployment is in a high‑density rack supporting virtualization clusters or converged infrastructure: outlets can be sequenced on/off remotely for controlled boot or reboot workflows, and current monitoring helps identify potential branch overloads. This unit should not replace a UPS for power continuity during outages; instead, pair with appropriate UPS upstream for conditioned power and backup.
