Overview

The Eaton PDUMH15NET2LX is a switched rack power distribution unit (PDU) for IT and telecom environments that need remote outlet control and power monitoring. It is deployed by data center engineers, network operations teams, and facilities administrators to manage power feeding critical rack infrastructure and to reduce manual visits for power cycling, rebooting, or scheduled control of connected equipment. It supports dynamic branch‑circuit management in single‑phase 120 V power systems.

This PDU distributes up to 1.44 kW total (12 A at 120 V) through eight individually controllable NEMA 5‑15R outlets. It includes an integrated network interface (LX platform) with support for SNMP, HTML5 web UI, SSH, and Telnet for remote monitoring, control, and embedded load reporting. A front digital ammeter displays total current draw locally.

Mechanically, the PDUMH15NET2LX installs in 1U of EIA‑310 standard 19‑inch rack space in a horizontal orientation, with included mounting hardware and a 12 ft (3.66 m) NEMA 5‑15P input cord. It also ships with a cord retention bracket, configuration cable, and cable ties for tidy rack deployment.

Control and monitoring interfaces include a network RJ‑45 port auto‑sensing 10/100 Mbps and an RJ‑45‑to‑DB9 console configuration connection, enabling integration into enterprise SNMP or PowerAlert Device Manager environments. The LX interface supports IPv4/IPv6, SMTP email alerts, DHCP, NTP, and SNMP v1/v2/v3 for secure remote power management.

In practice, this PDU is used where selective outlet switching and remote power control are required: resetting hung servers or network switches, sequencing power during phased rack start‑ups, or limiting outlet power to defined loads. It is not designed for higher voltage (208/230 V) systems, or where pure metering (non‑switched) PDUs suffice without outlet control.
