Overview

The Eaton EATS120 is an automatic transfer switch (ATS)‑enabled rack power distribution unit (PDU) intended for rack‑level AC power distribution with redundant feed capability. It is typically deployed by data center power teams, electrical engineers, and IT infrastructure teams where uninterrupted power continuity is required between two separate AC sources feeding a single output distribution bus. The ATS feature enables switching between primary and secondary inputs when power anomalies occur.

Electrically, this PDU operates at 120 V AC single‑phase, rated for 16 A and a maximum 1.92 kW output. It features two NEMA 5‑20P input cords and ten NEMA 5‑20R receptacles for load distribution. A network interface (Ethernet) and serial interface support remote monitoring within Eaton’s power management ecosystem.

This unit is designed for a 1U horizontal rack footprint in standard 19‑inch cabinets and integrates with rack and UPS infrastructure in wiring closets, core racks, and enterprise data centers where high availability feeds are available. It is suitable for powering servers, network switches, storage arrays, and other equipment requiring maintained power continuity.

The ATS mechanism enables the PDU to transfer output power from one input source to the other without interruption during source failures or maintenance procedures, preserving rack load uptime. Remote monitoring via Ethernet allows alarms and measurements to be incorporated into centralized management systems.

In a deployment example, EATS120 can be installed between two UPS feeds to supply power to a rack of critical servers. During planned UPS maintenance, the ATS will transfer to the alternate feed without disrupting rack loads. It is not suitable where outlet‑level switching or remote switching control of individual outlets is required; a managed or switched PDU would be appropriate in that case.
