Overview

The Eaton EMI310‑10 is a rack‑mount managed Power Distribution Unit (PDU) engineered for controlled AC power distribution and remote monitoring in 19‑inch rack environments. It is deployed by data center operators, network architects, and infrastructure engineers where visibility into power usage and remote control over outlet state improve uptime, fault response, and energy management.

This managed PDU accepts single‑phase 230/240 V AC input at 16 A, delivering up to 3.68 kW of usable capacity to connected rack devices. It features a set of ten IEC C13 outlets fed from an IEC C20 inlet, enabling standardized power leads for servers, switches, and network gear. Local measurement and networked reporting allow real‑time tracking of voltage, current, and power usage per branch.

The EMI310‑10 installs in a 1U horizontal rack position typical of IDF closets, enterprise racks, and colocation cages where remote power management and load balancing are prioritized. Its size and connector layout maintain standard rack depth and allow pairing with adjacent PDUs, UPS systems, and network switch stacks.

As a managed unit, it incorporates internal control ASICs with network interfaces for SNMP, web UI, and integration into Eaton monitoring platforms. It supports remote outlet control, alarms on threshold violations, and logs for capacity planning and outage diagnostics. This enables IT teams to cycle outlets or segment loads remotely to isolate faults without physical access.

In practical deployments, the EMI310‑10 is used downstream of UPS or facility power distribution to serve racks of infrastructure requiring proactive power management — for example, in edge compute clusters or branch data closets with limited access.

This unit is not suitable for 120 V ecosystems without step‑down transformers and should not be selected where outlet‑level metering and switching are unnecessary, as unmanaged PDUs can be more cost‑effective in those cases.
