Overview

APC AP9640 is a network management card designed for remote monitoring and control of compatible APC UPS systems via network connectivity. It is deployed by data center and IT infrastructure teams to integrate UPS status and control into enterprise management systems and to support orderly shutdown procedures when power events occur.

The AP9640 installs into the SmartSlot on supported APC Smart‑UPS and related UPS models and provides a Gigabit Ethernet interface for network communication. It supports standard network management protocols enabling secure remote access to UPS real‑time performance metrics and event data.

This card supports HTTP/HTTPS web interface access, SNMP (including SNMPv3), Telnet, SSH, and other command‑line based connectivity options to fetch performance metrics, configure alerts, and effect UPS control actions.

Physical dimensions are compact, suitable for SmartSlot integration, and the card includes a Micro‑USB console port and installation accessories. Operating environment ratings account for typical server room conditions with a broad humidity range and moderate temperature support.

AP9640 is not a standalone PDU or UPS; it is solely a network card that enables external network‑based management of supported UPS hardware. It does not provide power distribution or outlet control independent of a host UPS.
