The Eaton NETWORK‑M3 is a dedicated network management card that installs in compatible UPS and PDU hardware to provide Ethernet‑based communications, monitoring, and control. It is used by data center, facilities, and IT operations teams to integrate critical power equipment into management and monitoring ecosystems. The card enables remote infrastructure visibility and control, addressing the need for network‑accessible telemetry and event handling on UPS and certain PDU platforms.

Internally mounted via a proprietary Mini‑Slot interface, NETWORK‑M3 provides a 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet connection and supports a broad set of protocols including SNMP v1/v2c/v3, HTTPS, NTP, BOOTP/DHCP, SSH, and Syslog. This allows integration into standard network environments and DCIM tools for telemetry, alerting, and remote configuration. Embedded USB (micro‑USB and USB‑A) ports support local connectivity and diagnostics where applicable.

The NETWORK‑M3 card fits into a management card slot of supported Eaton single‑phase UPS systems and selected rack ATS/PDU models, extending those devices’ native capabilities with network connectivity. It is suitable for distributed IT closets, server rooms, edge racks, and enterprise data centers where centralised monitoring and power event awareness are required.

On compatible hosts, the network card exposes system power event logs, UPS status, and environmental data (when paired with optional probes) to centralised management. It integrates with Eaton’s management platforms such as Brightlayer Data Centers suite and Intelligent Power Manager, facilitating automation and consistent device monitoring across fleet deployments.

A typical deployment uses NETWORK‑M3 on UPSs serving critical loads where automated shutdown or alerting is needed if power conditions degrade. It is not a standalone networking appliance; it must be installed in a supported UPS or PDU and does not provide switch or router functions. Devices that do not have a compatible Mini‑Slot or that only require local serial management should not use this card.
