The StarTech MCM7-MEDIA-CHASSIS is a high-density, rack-mountable solution designed for centralized fiber-to-Ethernet conversion management. It is utilized by network administrators and data center engineers to house and power multiple media converters in a single 2U chassis, significantly reducing cable clutter and simplifying infrastructure maintenance in enterprise or telecommunications environments.

Technically, the chassis provides seven slots compatible with specific StarTech managed media converters. It features a centralized management module that allows administrators to monitor link status, port speed, and duplex mode remotely via SNMP or a web-based interface. The system is designed for high availability, featuring dual redundant hot-swappable power supplies to ensure continuous operation in the event of a power circuit failure. The integrated cooling fans maintain optimal airflow across the modules to prevent thermal throttling.

Deployment is optimized for standard 19-inch server racks, taking up only 2U of space. The hot-swappable nature of the modules allows for easy expansion or replacement without powering down the entire chassis. This chassis is a "managed" solution, providing much greater visibility and control than unmanaged "dumb" chassis, making it ideal for mission-critical backbone links or campus-wide fiber distributions.
