Overview

The StarTech MCM15-MEDIA-CHASSIS is a 15-slot rackmount media converter chassis designed for centralized deployment of multiple network media converters in enterprise and telecom environments. It is used in data centers and aggregation layers where fiber, copper, and serial conversions must be consolidated into a single rack footprint.

The chassis supports up to fifteen hot-swappable MCM series media converters, enabling mixed deployments across Fast Ethernet, Gigabit, 10GbE, VDSL2, and serial-over-IP interfaces. Each slot is independently powered, allowing module replacement or upgrades without service interruption.

It installs in a standard 19-inch rack (2.4U height) with integrated AC power and optional redundant PSU support (AC or -48V DC) for high-availability environments. Built-in dual fans and electrical protection ensure stable operation in continuous-use scenarios. Not suitable for standalone conversion (requires MCM modules) or environments needing managed switching or Layer 2/3 functionality.
