Overview :

The APC SMTL1000RM2UC is a rack-mountable line-interactive uninterruptible power supply designed to maintain stable AC power for network infrastructure, servers, and edge IT equipment. Infrastructure engineers deploy this UPS to protect critical devices from voltage fluctuations, brownouts, and short-duration outages while allowing controlled shutdown of connected systems. Its line-interactive design stabilizes incoming voltage through automatic voltage regulation while switching to battery during utility power failures.

This model provides 1000VA / 800W output capacity and delivers pure sine-wave output at 120V, ensuring compatibility with modern server power supplies and active-PFC equipment. The unit includes six NEMA 5-15R battery-backed outlets and a NEMA 5-15P input connection, making it suitable for standard North American single-phase power circuits used in IT racks and telecom cabinets.

The UPS is designed as a 2U short-depth rack unit, allowing installation in shallow racks or wall-mounted cabinets where traditional UPS systems may not fit. With a depth of approximately 12.5 inches, it integrates easily into edge deployments, branch office racks, or small server cabinets with limited space.

Operational management is provided through multiple interfaces including USB, serial (RJ-45), and a SmartSlot expansion bay. These interfaces allow integration with monitoring systems, shutdown software, or network management cards to enable remote monitoring and alerting. Additionally, the UPS includes a multifunction LCD display for status monitoring and configuration directly from the front panel.

A key design element of this model is its lithium-ion battery architecture, which provides longer service life and lower maintenance compared to traditional lead-acid UPS batteries. Lithium batteries in this platform typically provide 5–10 years of operational life, reducing replacement cycles in distributed IT deployments.

This UPS is commonly installed in edge computing racks, network closets, branch office cabinets, or telecom racks where moderate power capacity and short rack depth are required.
