Overview

The Eaton 5SC1000 is a line‑interactive uninterruptible power supply (UPS) intended to protect small‑to‑medium IT loads and office equipment operating on 120 V AC mains from power interruptions, voltage sags, and transient disturbances. It is deployed by IT support personnel and facility engineers to maintain uptime for network appliances, servers, workstations, and storage devices where brief outages or power quality variations could disrupt operations or cause data corruption.

This model is rated at 1000 VA / 700 W using line‑interactive topology with automatic voltage regulation (AVR) to correct most minor fluctuations without switching to battery. Output is provided through eight NEMA 5‑15R outlets, with input via a NEMA 5‑15P connection and a 6 ft (1.8 m) cord. Communications include USB (HID) and RS‑232 (RJ45) ports, and bundled cables support onsite integration with host‑side management software.

Battery management employs Eaton’s ABM 3‑stage charging technology, which extends battery service life and provides advanced replacement notification. The internal sealed lead‑acid battery is user‑replaceable but not hot‑swappable and the unit does not support external battery modules; runtime is sufficient to bridge short outages or enable orderly shutdowns but is not designed for prolonged autonomous operation.

In deployment, this UPS is suited for protecting networking gear, small servers, NAS units, and edge devices where power interruptions are infrequent and short. It is not appropriate for core data center power protection or high‑availability racks that require extended runtime, external battery expansion, or parallel UPS configurations.
