Overview

The Eaton 5P550R is a line‑interactive uninterruptible power supply (UPS) designed to provide short-duration backup power and voltage regulation for critical IT equipment. It is deployed by system administrators, network engineers, or data center technicians to protect servers, networking gear, and storage from power disturbances, outages, and sags. The unit addresses unexpected utility power loss and voltage fluctuations that can cause downtime or hardware damage.

The UPS supports a 550 VA (420 W) power rating on a 120 V AC nominal bus, delivering utility voltage regulation and battery backup through five NEMA 5‑15R outlets. A practical deployment example is protecting a small branch office server and associated PoE switch stack where brief brownouts and intermittent outages are common. The device supports automated notifications and shutdown scripting to ensure graceful service termination in the event of prolonged utility failure. Conversely, it should not be used as the sole UPS in high-availability data center core racks, multi-rack PDUs, or where runtime beyond a few minutes is required without external battery packs, as it lacks extended battery module support.
