Overview

The Eaton SMART1000RM1UN is a line‑interactive uninterruptible power supply (UPS) engineered to provide AC power conditioning and temporary battery backup to rack‑mounted IT and networking equipment in 120 V single‑phase environments. It’s deployed by IT engineers, facilities, and data center teams where controlled shutdowns and protection from brownouts, swells, and short utility outages are required for servers, switches, and storage nodes. Line‑interactive topology regulates voltage and engages battery backup for true outages.

This UPS is rated at 1000 VA / 800 W with a 0.8 power factor and delivers pure sine‑wave output suitable for modern electronics. Six NEMA 5‑15R outlets distribute battery–supported power, and automatic voltage regulation (AVR) corrects input variation (typically 83–147 V) without consuming battery energy, preserving reserve for outage support.

The form factor is 1U rackmount, making it suitable for installation in standard 19″ equipment racks or free‑standing under shelves in network closets, IDFs, and branch offices where space is constrained. Its footprint is optimized for tight rack deployments while still providing adequate battery capacity for short outage tolerance.

Integration includes a pre‑installed network management interface (WEBCARDLX) and communications ports (USB, DB9 serial, EPO) to enable remote monitoring, event logging, and automated safe shutdowns via Eaton’s PowerAlert or SNMP/Web clients. Two load banks are remotely switchable to reboot essential devices or shed non‑critical loads.

In deployment practice, this UPS is used to bridge brief outage events, complete critical writes, or initiate orderly system shutdown before extended outage support or generator transfer. Runtime is approximately 14 min at half load (~400 W) and ~4 min at full load (~800 W). It should not be used as a long‑duration backup source without external battery extensions; design scope is short‑hold‑up for controlled transitions.
