Overview :

The StarTech SV1631DUSBU is a high-density 1U rack-mountable KVM switch designed for centralized management of up to 16 server systems. Engineered for data centers and server rooms, this switch allows a single operator to control multiple computers using a single keyboard, mouse, and VGA monitor. It features a universal design that supports both USB and PS/2 interface connections on the server side, providing flexibility for environments with mixed legacy and modern hardware.

Technically, the switch supports video resolutions up to 1920x1440, ensuring high-clarity console output. Administrators can switch between active ports via front-panel push-buttons, keyboard hotkeys, or a multi-level On-Screen Display (OSD). The OSD provides an intuitive interface for naming connected servers and configuring security features, such as password protection for authorized access.

The unit is built with a rugged steel chassis and includes the necessary brackets for standard 19-inch rack integration. For larger-scale deployments, the SV1631DUSBU supports cascading (daisy-chaining) with additional KVM units, enabling control of up to 136 computers from a single console. This switch is not a KVM-over-IP solution and requires a direct physical connection to the local console.
