Overview :

The StarTech SV831DVIU is a high-density 8-port KVM switch engineered for server rooms and data centers requiring centralized control of multiple DVI-equipped systems. This 1U rack-mountable unit allows a single administrator to manage up to eight computers using one DVI monitor, a USB keyboard, and a USB mouse. It eliminates the cost and space requirements of redundant peripherals in high-traffic IT environments.

Technically, the switch supports digital resolutions up to 1920x1200 at 60Hz, ensuring high-fidelity video output for servers and workstations. It features an integrated 2-port USB 2.0 hub, allowing shared access to high-speed USB peripherals like external hard drives or thumb drives across all connected systems. The unit uses a rugged steel chassis designed for continuous operation in standard 19-inch server racks.

For administration, the SV831DVIU supports three switching methods: front-panel push-buttons, keyboard hotkey commands, and an intuitive On-Screen Display (OSD) for rapid port naming and selection. To prevent unauthorized access, the OSD includes a security password feature. The switch is also cascadeable up to two levels, enabling the management of up to 64 computers from a single console.
