The Eaton BP48V24‑2U is a 48 V DC external battery pack designed to extend runtime for compatible UPS systems. Infrastructure engineers, rack technicians, and data center teams deploy it where longer backup duration is required without replacing the host UPS. It solves limited runtime from internal batteries when prolonged hold‑up time is critical for orderly shutdown or extended outages.

This pack uses maintenance‑free lead‑acid batteries configured to deliver a 48 V DC output optimized for specific Eaton/Tripp Lite UPS models. The unit ships as a 2U rack/tower module with heavy‑gauge cabling and a high‑current DC connector that plugs directly into the UPS, enabling quick installation without complex wiring.

Physically, BP48V24‑2U fits a 2U rack space in EIA‑310‑compliant 19″ racks, but also supports tower or stacked configurations using included accessories. It installs adjacent to the UPS, conserving floor space while adding significant energy capacity for extended runtime in IDF closets, server rooms, and critical edge locations.

Integration is straightforward: the attached heavy‑gauge DC cable with a male 175 A connector mates to the UPS’s external battery port, enabling the host UPS to recognize and draw power seamlessly when needed. Multiple external packs can be used per UPS with the optional splitter cable where supported.

In deployment, BP48V24‑2U improves battery backup time for UPS models such as SMART2200RMXL2U, SMART2600RM2U, and SMART3000RM2U, making it well‑suited for sustaining critical network, server, and storage loads through extended outages. It is not appropriate for UPS systems that do not support external expansions or for facilities requiring three‑phase DC integration.
