Overview :

The StarTech ST12MHDLNHR is a high-performance HDMI over IP extender kit (Transmitter and Receiver) designed for ultra-high-definition video distribution over a standard local area network (LAN). It is utilized by AV integrators, IT managers, and digital signage professionals to deliver 4K video to remote displays in large venues, corporate offices, and educational institutions.

Technically, the system utilizes advanced H.264/H.265 compression to stream 4K video at 60Hz with low latency and minimal bandwidth consumption. It transmits signals over a single Cat5e or Cat6 cable up to 100 meters (328 ft) for point-to-point connections. For larger deployments, the signal can be distributed through a Gigabit Ethernet switch to reach virtually unlimited distances and multiple receivers. The hardware supports Power over Ethernet (PoE), allowing both units to be powered directly from a PoE-enabled switch, which simplifies installation by removing the need for localized power outlets.

Deployment is highly versatile, supporting point-to-point, point-to-multipoint, and multipoint-to-multipoint (matrix) configurations. The extender includes integrated IR and RS-232 pass-through, enabling the control of source devices or displays from remote locations.
