Overview

The StarTech VDSL-LAN-EXTENDER-1G is a high-performance point-to-point network extender designed to bridge the gap between remote network segments where standard Category cabling is unavailable or cost-prohibitive to install. It utilizes VDSL2 technology to deliver a stable Gigabit Ethernet connection over existing single-pair copper wiring (RJ-11 phone lines) or coaxial cables (via included adapters). This solution is ideal for connecting isolated buildings, modular offices, or remote monitoring stations across sprawling industrial sites.

This kit includes both the local (Transmitter) and remote (Receiver) units, providing a plug-and-play deployment that requires no complex software configuration. It can achieve speeds up to 1 Gbps at shorter distances and maintains connectivity over runs reaching up to 0.9 miles (1.5 kilometers) at reduced bandwidth. The extender features an integrated 10/100/1000Base-T Ethernet port and a dedicated VDSL2 port, allowing it to function as a transparent bridge within the existing network architecture.

Built for reliability in demanding environments, the hardware features a rugged metal housing and supports both shelf and wall mounting. It is an excellent alternative to fiber optic deployments for short-to-medium range extensions, specifically in older facilities with pre-existing copper infrastructure.
