The StarTech ST121HD20FXA2 is a professional-grade point-to-point extender designed to transmit 4K 60Hz HDMI signals over long distances using fiber optic cabling. Unlike copper-based HDBaseT solutions, this fiber extender provides total immunity to electromagnetic interference (EMI), making it critical for deployments in industrial environments, medical facilities, or high-density data centers. It supports HDMI 2.0 specifications, including 4:4:4 chroma subsampling and HDR, ensuring uncompromised visual fidelity for digital signage and broadcast applications.

The system utilizes a modular SFP design, including an LC-connectorized SFP+ transceiver. When using single-mode fiber, the extender can reach distances up to 3,280 feet (1,000 meters); it also supports multi-mode fiber for shorter runs (up to 300 meters). This flexibility allows procurement teams to adapt the hardware to existing fiber infrastructure. The unit also features an HDMI loop-out port on the transmitter, allowing for a local monitor connection to simplify troubleshooting and monitoring at the source.

Engineered for seamless integration, the ST121HD20FXA2 includes EDID copy functionality to ensure the source device outputs the correct resolution for the remote display. It also supports 7.1 channel audio and features a separate 3.5mm analog audio output on the receiver for de-embedding sound to external speakers.
