Overview

The Eaton 5PXEBM48RTG2 is an external extended battery module (EBM) designed to increase runtime for compatible Eaton 5PX G2 UPS systems. It provides additional sealed lead‑acid battery capacity to sustain loads longer during utility outages or transitional disturbances, making it suitable for branch office racks, network closets, and edge IT deployments where extended backup time is required beyond internal UPS batteries. Specifications are verified from official Eaton documentation and authorized sources.

This module is intended to be used in conjunction with specific 5PX G2 UPS models — including the 1000 VA and 1500 VA 2U models — and communicates with the UPS through a dedicated DC connector cable for integrated runtime management. The pack supports daisy‑chaining of multiple EBMs to scale runtime further when needed.

Mechanically, the unit occupies 2U of rack space and is rack/tower convertible using the included 4‑post rail kit and pedestal brackets, ensuring installation flexibility in 19‑inch rack frames or upright pedestal configurations.
