The StarTech PEX2PCI4 is an external expansion chassis that adds four 32‑bit/33 MHz PCI slots to a host system via a single PCIe x1 connection, enabling legacy PCI cards to operate from systems with limited onboard expansion. It’s deployed in test benches, industrial systems, legacy hardware support environments, and workstations where additional PCI I/O cards must be added without motherboard redesign. The solution includes a PCIe host adapter card, expansion enclosure, and interconnect cable. It supports both 3.3 V and 5 V PCI cards with no drivers required. Do NOT use for PCIe device expansion beyond PCI cards (e.g., GPUs) or where high PCIe bandwidth is required; throughput is limited by the PCIe x1 link (~250 MB/s total).
