The StarTech 4U2525‑SAS‑BACKPLANE is a 4‑bay drive backplane engineered to add four 2.5″ U.2 (SFF‑8639) NVMe SSD/HDD bays into a standard 5.25″ chassis expansion slot for servers or workstations. It provides direct backplane connectivity via Mini‑SAS HD (SFF‑8643) links, enabling high‑speed PCIe x4 NVMe performance (up to 32 Gbps per drive) and supporting hot‑swappable operation where the host controller supports PCIe hot swap. Lockable trays enhance media security and prevent accidental drive removal during service. Two rear cooling fans with selectable speed modes improve thermal management for dense NVMe storage, while removable caddies simplify field drive replacement. NOT for use with non‑U.2 interfaces or chassis without available 5.25″ bays and compatible Mini‑SAS host connections.
