Overview

The StarTech R8AD122‑KVM‑SWITCH is an 8‑port rack‑mount KVM switch that enables control of up to eight DisplayPort‑equipped computers from a single keyboard, mouse, 3.5 mm audio and DisplayPort console. It’s designed for data centers, server rooms, labs, and multi‑system racks where consolidated access simplifies administration and reduces physical console sprawl.

This unit supports DisplayPort 1.2 video at up to 4K 60 Hz, ensuring high‑resolution graphics during local console access. Switching between hosts is via front‑panel push buttons or configurable hotkeys, with LED indicators and an audible confirmation buzzer to verify selection. It includes a 4‑port USB 2.0 hub for peripheral sharing and is universally compatible at BIOS level with Windows, macOS, Linux, and ARM platforms.

Deployment is 1 U rack‑mountable with included brackets; suitable for racks with ≥165 mm depth. It requires separately sourced DisplayPort, USB, and audio cabling. Not suitable for multi‑user console sharing or environments needing network‑based KVM/IP access.
