With a compressed storage capacity of 3.0 TB, the Sony LTX1500G LTO Ultrium 5 cartridge delivers new functionality to support the ever-increasing requirements of today's data-rich storage environments. Users can now create two partitions within the cartridge, addressing both file control and space management. This feature can help to increase access speed, which is important for storing rich media files. The LTO-5 cartridge adds this feature while still retaining the hardware-based encryption introduced with LTO-4 technology, which helps to protect the storage and transport of sensitive information.

• Massive storage capacity is achieved by increasing recording tracks (LTO5: 896) utilizing a thinner and longer length tape
• Fine magnetic particles, higher thermal stability binder, and maximized performance with an improved dispersing technology for finer magnetic particles
• New thin-layer coating technology and a smoother surface coating process enabling the cartridge to have a low error rate and stable output under various operating conditions.
• Stable magnetic servo signal writing technology and newly-developed high-rigid and high-accuracy cartridge molding technology achieve stable write/read characteristics and offer the higher reliability required by data backup systems
