Overview
The Eaton N785-P01-LC-MM1 is a media converter designed to bridge multimode fiber and copper Ethernet with Power over Ethernet (PoE+) support. It supports PoE+ delivery to compatible devices directly, allowing remote powering without separate AC outlets.
It is typically installed in IDF closets, telecommunications rooms, ceiling-mounted junction boxes, pole mounts, or equipment enclosures where fiber backbone infrastructure runs to edge zones and copper reach is limited. The compact converter simplifies demarcation between fiber and copper domains while preserving network continuity.
The N785-P01-LC-MM1 integrates into existing network topologies with auto-negotiation for VLAN-agnostic Gigabit links and LED indicators for power, link status, and PoE operation. Its external power supply supports global AC mains (100-240 V) input, making it adaptable across regional power systems.
In a practical deployment, it is used to extend a fiber link from a distribution switch down a hallway to a fiber-terminated enclosure, then deliver both Gigabit data and PoE+ to a 802.3at/af-compliant security camera at distances up to ~550 m of multimode fiber.
This unit is not suitable where only singlemode fiber distances are required, nor where direct SFP plug-in interfaces are preferred; it is also not appropriate for non-PoE endpoints that require fiber-only connectivity without copper conversion.
