Detailed Specifications
APC PNET1GB Surge Protector for Ethernet Data Port (10/100/1000 Base-T Ethernet lines), ProtectNet
Overview :
The majority of all surge-induced damage is caused by surges and spikes traveling along unprotected data lines. These surges originate from a wide variety of sources, including static charge buildup and lightning strikes. Left unprotected, your data lines expose network cards, A/V components, modems and other network equipment to damaging electrical transients. Inserting a ProtectNet in your data line and connecting it to Earth ground prevents back-door surges from ruining your productivity and costing you money.
Data line surges make up an overwhelming majority of all surge induced damages where the equipment was thought to be already protected but had a back door such as a modem line unprotected. Network interface cards, in particular, can be destroyed by relatively mild spikes.
- Catastrophic Event Protection - Basic Surge Protector components such as MOVs and Thermal fuses ensure instantaneous reaction to lightning strikes and wiring faults. If the surge components are damaged due to power spike or over voltage, excess power cannot reach your equipment. Unlike APC Surge Protector products, most surge suppressors continue to let power through even after circuits have been damaged, leaving your equipment exposed to other damaging surges.
