The APC SMX3000LV is a line-interactive uninterruptible power supply (UPS) designed to provide short-duration backup power and power conditioning for IT infrastructure. It is typically deployed by network engineers and data centre technicians for protecting servers, networking equipment, and storage systems against utility power failures, sags, and spikes.
With a 3000 VA / 2700 W capacity, the unit supports mission-critical loads during outages while providing automatic voltage regulation (AVR) to correct undervoltages and overvoltages without engaging the battery system. It uses a line-interactive topology with a sine wave output to ensure clean power delivery to sensitive electronics.
The UPS is designed in a 4U rackmount/tower convertible form factor, making it suitable for IDF/MDF racks or edge server cabinets where vertical space is available. Its standard 120 V nominal input/output configuration aligns with North American power systems.
Connectivity includes multiple NEMA output receptacles for distributed power and a SmartSlot for optional network management cards, enabling integration with enterprise power management platforms such as APC's EcoStruxure IT or centralized SNMP systems.
Typical deployment minutes of runtime support orderly shutdown or transition to generator power. Full-load runtime is approximately 6 min, and half-load runtime is around 18 min, which is sufficient for orderly system shutdown in branch and data centre environments.
This device is not suitable for high-availability applications requiring continuous operation beyond short outages without external battery packs. It also does not support 208 V/230 V output without a model variant designed for those voltages
