The APC SCL500RM1UC is a compact line-interactive rackmount uninterruptible power supply (UPS) designed to provide regulated power protection for small IT infrastructure, network equipment, and edge deployments installed in shallow racks. It is typically deployed by network administrators and infrastructure engineers who require reliable power continuity in telecom cabinets, branch office racks, or edge computing environments where rack depth is limited.

The UPS provides 500VA / 400W output capacity with pure sine wave output, ensuring compatibility with sensitive electronics and devices using active-PFC power supplies. Its line-interactive topology incorporates Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR) to correct undervoltage or overvoltage conditions without switching immediately to battery operation. This helps maintain stable output voltage and extend battery lifespan during fluctuating utility power conditions. The system operates on 120V AC infrastructure with an input voltage operating range of 92-139V, using a NEMA 5-15P input connector.

For device connectivity, the UPS provides four NEMA 5-15R battery-backup outlets, allowing direct connection of network switches, routers, small servers, or rack-mounted appliances.
