Overview :

The APC Smart‑UPS SMT2200RM2UNC is a 2U rack-mount uninterruptible power supply (UPS) designed for systems engineers and data center technicians who need to maintain uptime for critical IT equipment. It provides controlled shutdown and power protection for servers, network devices, and storage arrays.

This UPS uses a line-interactive topology with automatic voltage regulation (AVR), delivering 1920 VA / 1920 W output with pure sine wave AC. It includes eight battery-backed outlets (2× NEMA 5‑20R, 6× NEMA 5‑15R) and a built-in network management card for remote monitoring and event alerts.

The 2U form factor fits standard 19″ cabinets, suitable for IDF/MDF racks, branch offices, edge closets, and small data center racks. The unit has a NEMA 5‑20P input plug, front LCD console for status monitoring, and transfer times of 4–8 ms during mains power loss.

A practical deployment is protecting a rack of servers and network switches in a branch office with occasional outages. The network management card enables automatic shutdown of hypervisors or databases. It is not suitable for environments requiring extended runtime without external battery packs or for 208/230 V systems without proper variants.
