The ASUS RP-BE58 is a plug-in dual-band Wi-Fi 7 range extender designed to improve wireless coverage in homes and small offices. It supports the IEEE 802.11be standard and is rated BE3600, with theoretical wireless data rates of up to 2,882Mbps on the 5GHz band and 688Mbps on the 2.4GHz band. Actual performance depends on the router, client devices, interference, placement, and backhaul connection.
The extender supports ASUS AiMesh, allowing it to join a compatible ASUS mesh network, and can also operate with most third-party Wi-Fi routers. Operating modes include range extender, access point, and media bridge. In access point or AiMesh configurations, a wired Ethernet backhaul can help preserve wireless capacity for client devices.
A single Gigabit Ethernet port provides wired connectivity for compatible network equipment or backhaul use. Setup is available through the ASUS Router app or ASUS Extender app, with WPS setup supported in non-AiMesh operation. Its wall-plug form factor is intended for convenient placement near areas with weak wireless coverage.
Dual-band Wi-Fi 7 supports combined speeds up to BE3600

The BE3600 rating represents theoretical combined wireless link rates across both bands, not a guaranteed single-device internet speed. This is a dual-band extender; it does not have a dedicated third wireless backhaul band. Performance depends on where it is installed and the quality of its connection to the main router.
For the best results, place the extender where it receives a strong signal from the main router rather than directly inside the dead zone. A wired Gigabit Ethernet connection can be used for backhaul in supported access point or AiMesh configurations. Wi-Fi 7 features require compatible client devices and suitable network conditions. Regional firmware, security options, and availability may vary.
What does BE3600 mean on the ASUS RP-BE58?
BE3600 is the Wi-Fi performance class. The extender supports theoretical rates up to 2,882Mbps on 5GHz and 688Mbps on 2.4GHz; actual throughput is lower and depends on network conditions.
Does the RP-BE58 work with non-ASUS routers?
Yes. ASUS states that it is compatible with nearly any Wi-Fi router. AiMesh-specific mesh features require a compatible ASUS AiMesh router.
Can it be used as an access point?
Yes. It supports access point mode, which allows it to connect to a router over Ethernet and provide wireless coverage from that wired connection.
Does it support Wi-Fi 7 Multi-Link Operation?
Yes. ASUS lists Multi-Link Operation and 4096-QAM among its Wi-Fi 7 features. Benefits depend on compatible devices and network conditions.
Does the RP-BE58 have a 2.5Gb Ethernet port?
No. It has one Gigabit Ethernet port. A wired connection through this port is limited to Gigabit Ethernet link speed.
How should the extender be positioned?
Place it between the router and the area with weak coverage, where it can still receive a strong signal from the router. Avoid placing it deep inside the dead zone, as the extender cannot reliably amplify a signal it barely receives.
