TRENDnet TEW-809UB AC1900 Dual Band Wireless USB Adapter
Overview
The TRENDnet TEW-809UB is an AC1900 high-power wireless USB adapter designed to significantly upgrade a computer's networking capabilities. It serves as an external solution for desktops and laptops, enabling them to connect to the latest high-speed Wi-Fi networks. The primary role of this device is to bypass a computer's slower, built-in wireless hardware, providing a direct and powerful link to a wireless router for demanding tasks like 4K video streaming, online gaming, and large file transfers. This adapter achieves its performance through a combination of a high-power radio and four external, detachable high-gain antennas. This hardware configuration provides superior range and signal penetration compared to standard internal Wi-Fi cards. The unit also incorporates beamforming technology, which intelligently focuses the wireless signal directly at the router, creating a more stable and efficient connection. This ensures consistent throughput and reduces connection drops, even at a distance. Engineered for straightforward deployment, the TEW-809UB connects to a computer via an included USB 3.0 cable, ensuring the connection path does not bottleneck the high-speed wireless rates. The adapter's physical design allows for flexible placement on a desk to optimize signal reception. Management is handled through the host operating system, with support for both Windows and Mac platforms, following a simple, guided installation process.
