Overview

The APC SURT192RMXLBP3U is a rack-mount external battery pack designed to extend runtime for compatible APC Smart-UPS RT series UPS systems deployed in enterprise IT infrastructure. It provides additional DC energy storage so that servers, storage arrays, and network equipment remain powered during prolonged utility outages.

This battery pack operates at a 192 V DC configuration using sealed lead-acid battery modules arranged internally in multiple battery blocks. The architecture is engineered to deliver stable DC power to the connected UPS, allowing the UPS inverter to continue providing conditioned AC power to critical equipment. The unit includes four pre-installed battery modules and supports scalable runtime depending on load and number of battery packs connected.

Physically, the device occupies 3U of rack space and integrates directly into standard 19-inch equipment racks commonly used in data centers, IDF closets, and enterprise server rooms. The enclosure is rack-mountable with supplied brackets and can be stacked with additional battery packs to achieve longer backup durations.

Operational management is handled through the connected Smart-UPS RT system, which performs battery charging, monitoring, and runtime estimation. The battery pack itself does not generate AC output; it functions solely as an energy storage extension for the UPS. For reliability, the batteries are maintenance-free sealed lead-acid modules with a typical lifecycle of 3–5 years under normal operating conditions.
