The APC SRT48BP is an external battery pack designed to extend the runtime of APC Smart‑UPS On‑Line 1 kVA and 1.5 kVA systems that operate on a 48 V DC battery architecture. It is deployed by IT infrastructure and data center teams to provide scalable backup power during prolonged utility outages and support orderly shutdowns of critical equipment.

Constructed with sealed lead‑acid (VRLA) battery technology, this pack integrates advanced battery management at the cell, module, and cabinet levels to monitor performance and support predictable runtime scaling when combined with compatible UPS units.

Delivered in a 2 U rackmount format, the SRT48BP can be installed in standard 19″ server racks or used as a standalone battery stack, providing flexibility in space‑constrained IT environments.

The hot‑swappable design allows replacement of battery modules without powering down connected loads, helping minimize operational disruption during maintenance.

Multiple packs (up to ten) can be chained to the UPS to achieve extended backup times appropriate to load and runtime requirements; expected battery life under normal operating conditions is 3 – 5 years
