Overview

The APC SRT72BP is an external battery pack engineered to extend runtime for select APC Smart‑UPS SRT online UPS systems. It is used by data center, network, and IT infrastructure engineers to add additional energy capacity to UPS units serving servers, storage, and core networking equipment, ensuring longer ride‑through time during utility power outages.

This battery pack contains sealed, maintenance‑free lead‑acid batteries arranged to deliver a 72 V DC output that integrates with compatible UPS hardware. Batteries are hot‑swappable, allowing service or replacement without shutting down protected loads when supported by the host UPS.

Mechanically compact, the unit installs adjacent to or beneath a UPS and typically mounts in a 2U rack footprint with optional rail kit or as a tower‑oriented pack depending on rack configuration. It includes on‑board management support for runtime and health reporting through the connected UPS.

This battery pack does not generate AC power on its own—its sole function is to provide DC energy storage to extend the runtime of the UPS system. It must be paired with a compatible Smart‑UPS SRT UPS to deliver AC backup power.
