The HP J4858C is a 1 Gbps Small Form-Factor Pluggable (SFP) transceiver module intended for engineers deploying optical links in enterprise or data-centre networks. Engineers use it to extend full-duplex Gigabit Ethernet links over multimode fibre, solving connectivity between switches or routers where copper is impractical. It offers up to 550 m reach on 50 µm multimode fibre (500 m typical) and supports the IEEE 802.3z 1000BASE-SX standard. The module is suitable in campus wiring closets, wiring-distribution areas and data-center server-farms, fitting into SFP ports on switches from the HP/Aruba family. It integrates with existing fibre infrastructure and allows hot-plug replacement without shutting down the equipment.
