The StarTech SFP-25G-LR-S-M-ST is a Cisco-compatible fiber optic SFP28 transceiver module specifically engineered for high-performance 25 Gigabit Ethernet (25GbE) applications. This module serves as a direct, cost-effective replacement for the Cisco SFP-25G-LR-S-M, providing reliable, high-bandwidth connectivity for enterprise-grade switching, data center aggregation, and long-range network backbones.

This transceiver operates at a 1310nm wavelength over single-mode fiber (SMF), supporting reliable data transmission at distances up to 10 kilometers (6.2 miles). Utilizing the SFP28 form factor, it offers a 2.5x increase in speed over standard 10G SFP+ while maintaining the same physical footprint and power efficiency. The module is fully hot-swappable, allowing for deployment and maintenance in live Cisco networking environments—such as Nexus and Catalyst platforms—without requiring a system reboot.

To ensure proactive network management, the SFP-25G-LR-S-M-ST includes Digital Diagnostic Monitoring (DDM/DOM) support. This allows IT administrators to access real-time diagnostic data, including laser bias current, optical transmit power, receive sensitivity, and internal temperature.
