Overview

The Eaton TLP712B is a compact AC surge protector designed to safeguard connected electronics from transient voltage spikes and line noise on standard 120 V AC mains circuits. It's used by IT engineers and facilities teams to add point-of-use surge suppression and power distribution capacity in small rack & workstation deployments.

This unit provides seven NEMA 5-15R outlets fed from a NEMA 5-15P input on a 12 ft (3.66 m) grounded power cord, enabling placement flexibility relative to distant wall receptacles. The surge suppression rating is 1080 joules, and the unit includes a resettable 15 A circuit breaker for overload protection.

Employments are typical in IT closets, office floors, and telecom communication points where multiple desktop devices, peripherals, and network equipment require protection and basic distribution from a single branch circuit. The diagnostic LED provides visual confirmation that surge protection is active.

Physically the unit fits on a bench, floor, or wall mount via keyhole slots molded into the housing. The black plastic housing and 12 ft cord are practical for extending reach from a fixed wall outlet to a rack footwell or adjacent power bar.

Deployment example: adding a surge-protected power strip to an IDF rack's non-PDU outlets to feed test benches, monitoring consoles, or low-density network devices that don't warrant a dedicated PDU run. This model is not suitable for critical server racks requiring redundant PDUs or for high-availability environments where UPS power conditioning is mandated, as it offers only basic surge suppression and no UPS functionality.
