Overview :

The HP C7980A is a Super DLT I (SDLT I) data cartridge designed for enterprise‑class backup and archive applications where reliability and backward compatibility with DLT libraries matter. It supports native capacities of up to 110 GB or 160 GB depending on the drive, and compressed capacities up to 220 GB or 320 GB when used in compatible SDLT 220 or SDLT 320 drives respectively. The cartridge fits into departmental, branch or data‑centre tape libraries and remains viable for long‑term archival storage thanks to its 30‑year design life. It integrates seamlessly into legacy DLT/SDLT infrastructures, enabling reuse of existing library investments while still delivering high‑capacity media for systematic backup workflows.
