Overview :

The QNAP TL-R2400PES-RP-US is a high-density Enterprise JBOD Expansion unit designed to scale the storage capacity of QuTS hero or QTS NAS systems. Utilizing a PCIe-based interface, it provides massive storage expansion for data-intensive applications such as large-scale surveillance, long-term archiving, and virtualization backups. The redundant power supply (RP) ensures continuous operation, making it suitable for data centers where hardware availability is critical.

This Enterprise JBOD Expansion unit features 24 drive bays supporting 3.5-inch or 2.5-inch SATA 6Gb/s drives. By connecting via PCIe Gen 3 x8 cables, it offers higher data transfer speeds compared to traditional SAS or USB-based expansion enclosures. This direct-link architecture allows the host NAS to manage the expansion drives as if they were internal, facilitating seamless RAID group expansion and management through the Storage & Snapshots Manager.

The 4U rackmount chassis is built for enterprise environments requiring robust cooling and stability. It is intended for use with QNAP NAS hosts that have a compatible PCIe expansion slot for the required interface card. It should not be used as a standalone NAS, as it lacks an independent CPU and OS; it functions strictly as a managed expansion enclosure for a primary QNAP host.
