Overview :

The APC SMT3000RM2UNC is a rack-mount line-interactive uninterruptible power supply designed to protect rack-based IT infrastructure operating on a 120V power ecosystem. It is deployed by network engineers, system administrators, and facilities teams responsible for maintaining power continuity for servers, network switching equipment, and storage appliances. The UPS provides battery backup and power conditioning to mitigate utility disturbances including voltage sags, over-voltage events, and electrical noise.

The system delivers 3000VA / 2700W output capacity using a line-interactive topology with automatic voltage regulation (AVR). AVR corrects low-voltage and over-voltage conditions without switching to battery power, preserving battery runtime for actual outages. Output power is delivered as a pure sine-wave, which supports IT equipment with active PFC power supplies commonly found in enterprise servers and network hardware.

Power input is provided through a NEMA L5-30P connector, allowing connection to 30-amp 120V circuits typically found in server rooms and network closets. The UPS distributes protected power through six NEMA 5-15R outlets and two NEMA 5-20R outlets, supporting multiple rack devices or a rack PDU. The UPS also provides SmartSlot, USB, and serial management interfaces for integration with centralized infrastructure monitoring systems.

In rack deployments, the unit occupies 2U of space in standard 19-inch cabinets, making it suitable for installation in IDF closets, branch server rooms, and edge compute racks. The rack-mount form factor allows the UPS to be installed directly beneath network switches, storage arrays, or hypervisor nodes requiring conditioned power and runtime protection.

The “UNC” variant includes a pre-installed network management card, enabling remote monitoring, alerting, and power management over IP networks. This allows infrastructure teams to monitor UPS health, perform shutdown automation, and integrate the device into centralized data center monitoring platforms.

A typical deployment scenario includes a branch office rack running virtualization hosts and network aggregation switches where 120V rack PDUs are used. The UPS maintains power stability and provides several minutes of runtime for graceful system shutdown or generator failover.

This device should not be deployed in environments requiring 208V or 240V power distribution, or installations using L6-series connectors typical in higher-voltage rack ecosystems.
