Overview :

The APC SMT1500RMI2U is a 1.5 kVA (1200 W) line‑interactive UPS designed to provide regulated AC power and battery backup for rack-mounted servers, storage systems, and networking equipment. It is typically deployed by IT engineers and network administrators in server rooms, IDF/MDF racks, and branch offices where stable voltage and short-duration backup are required.

This UPS uses line-interactive topology with Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR) to correct under- and over-voltages without unnecessary battery use, preserving battery life and maintaining stable output. It provides pure sine-wave output at 120 V, compatible with sensitive IT devices and active-PFC power supplies.

The unit is housed in a 2U rackmount chassis suitable for standard 19-inch racks. An LCD control panel provides real-time information on load, battery status, and power events. Batteries are hot-swappable, allowing replacement without interrupting connected equipment.

Management connectivity includes USB and serial ports, enabling remote monitoring, event logging, and controlled shutdown via compatible software. Audible alarms notify operators of battery and load events.

In deployment, this UPS is ideal for small to medium server racks, storage arrays, and network switches. It should not be selected for systems requiring full double-conversion online UPS with zero transfer time.
