Overview :

The APC SMT1000RMI2U is a 1 kVA (700 W) line‑interactive UPS designed to provide regulated AC power and short-term battery backup for rack-mounted servers, network devices, and storage equipment. It is typically deployed by IT engineers and network administrators in IDF/MDF racks, server rooms, and branch office closets where reliable voltage regulation and brief backup power are required.

This UPS uses line-interactive topology with Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR) to correct under- and over-voltages without unnecessary battery use, extending battery life and maintaining stable output. It provides pure sine-wave output at 120 V, compatible with sensitive IT and networking equipment, including active-PFC power supplies.

The unit is housed in a 2U rackmount chassis suitable for standard 19-inch server racks. An LCD display provides real-time information on load, battery status, and power events for monitoring and troubleshooting. Batteries are hot-swappable, enabling replacement without interrupting connected loads.

Management interfaces include USB and serial ports, allowing remote monitoring, event logging, and controlled shutdown using compatible software. Audible alarms provide notifications for battery operation and power events.
