Overview :

The APC SMC1500I‑2U is a 1.5 kVA (900 W) line‑interactive UPS designed to provide regulated AC power and battery backup for small servers, storage arrays, and networking equipment. It is deployed by IT engineers, network administrators, and infrastructure teams in server rooms, IDF/MDF racks, and edge closets where short-term backup and voltage regulation are required.

This UPS features line-interactive topology with Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR), which corrects under- and over-voltages without unnecessary battery use, improving efficiency and extending battery lifespan. It delivers a pure sine-wave output at 230 V, compatible with active-PFC and sensitive electronics.

The chassis is a 2U rackmount form factor that fits standard 19-inch server racks. The LCD control panel provides real-time load, battery, and power quality information for easy monitoring and troubleshooting. Batteries are hot-swappable, enabling replacement without interruption to connected equipment.

Management connectivity includes USB and serial ports, supporting remote monitoring, event logging, and automated shutdowns via compatible power management software. Audible alarms alert operators to load, battery, and event status.

In deployment, this UPS is ideal for small virtualization hosts, storage devices, networking gear, and edge IT racks. It should not be selected for high-critical systems requiring full on-line double-conversion UPS protection with zero transfer time.
