Overview :

The APC SMX2000RMLV2U is a line-interactive uninterruptible power supply designed to deliver conditioned 120V power and battery backup for rack-mounted IT infrastructure. It is commonly deployed by network engineers, system administrators, and data center operators to maintain uptime for servers, network switches, storage arrays, and edge compute equipment during power interruptions. The UPS provides automatic voltage regulation and battery backup to protect equipment from outages, voltage drops, and electrical instability.

The system provides a power capacity of 1920VA / 1800W with pure sine-wave output compatible with modern server power supplies using active power factor correction. It operates within a 100–127V electrical environment and includes seven output receptacles: three NEMA 5-15R, three NEMA 5-20R, and one locking NEMA L5-20R. The UPS connects to upstream power through a NEMA 5-20P input plug, requiring a 20-amp circuit commonly provisioned in server rooms or dedicated equipment spaces.

The chassis is designed as a rack/tower convertible unit occupying 2U of rack space in a standard 19-inch cabinet. This form factor enables deployment in network closets, IDF cabinets, and compact server racks where space is limited but reliable battery protection is required. With a depth of approximately 26 inches and a weight near 85 lb, installation is typically performed in mid-to-lower rack positions to maintain proper rack balance and cable management.

The UPS integrates with infrastructure monitoring platforms through USB, serial communication interfaces, and a SmartSlot expansion bay for network management modules. With an optional network card installed, administrators can monitor UPS status, perform remote shutdown operations, and integrate power events into centralized monitoring platforms using SNMP or web-based management tools.

A typical deployment places this UPS in a branch server rack supporting virtualization hosts, edge storage, and network switching equipment where short-term battery runtime is required to bridge brief outages or allow automated shutdown. At full load the unit provides roughly ten minutes of runtime, while lower loads extend runtime significantly for small infrastructure stacks.

This UPS is not intended for high-density racks or environments operating on 208V or 230V electrical systems. Deployments with higher rack power demands or three-phase distribution typically require larger UPS platforms designed for higher voltage and greater output capacity.
